About the director

Vietnamese-American choral conductor Richard Saber has begun developing himself as a promising conductor, choral scholar, and music educator in the Northeast. He was recently appointed as the Music Director of the Monday Night Choir; a non-auditioned community chorus with over 50 singers. He continues his studies at McGill University pursuing his Master’s degree in Choral Conducting under the direction of Dr. Jean-Sébastien Vallée. He completed his undergraduate degree in Music Education from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He previously served as the Music Director for the Coolidge Corner Community Chorus, Chord Achoired, and Treble Achoired.

In recent years, he has studied conducting under Drs. Allegra Martin, Michael Barrett, Tiffany Chang, and Professor Reagan Paras as well as Grammy nominated conductor Dr. James Jordan. He has also sung under the direction of acclaimed conductors Drs. Amanda Quist, Joe Miller, Jamie Bunce, and many more; he has studied private voice with the renowned countertenor Dr. Jay Carter, Professors Julius Williams III and Frankie Campofelice and leading pedagogue Tim Welch.

While beginning his studies at Berklee, he founded and directed Chord Achoired, a student-run vocal chamber ensemble specializing in renaissance, baroque, and contemporary choral music. Richard is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association and has served as the Collegiate Representative for the Massachusetts Chapter of the national organization. He also began the student chapter at Berklee and Boston Conservatory with the help of Dr. Nathan Reiff prior to receiving his nomination to the Massachusetts ACDA Board.
